Eating Cereal

Ethan started eating cereal right after turning 4 months. These are some pictures from his first try. He was not sure of what we were doing but we are working on it every day. Ethan has his cereal for dinner right now. He is getting about a tbsp. Some days he does better than others. He gets very mad that it is not continual. He thinks it should just keep coming like a bottle. He also wants to be in control of the spoon. In the one pictures he is trying to take the spoon from me. Little bit of a control freak, just like his mom. He is getting better every day with what to do with the food. We will just keep working and trying new things to learn. Wow he is growing so fast. My baby gets food now.

4 Months Old:

It has been awhile since I have updated. Ethan turned 4 months on December 2nd. He weighed 15.12 lbs and was 24.5 in long. He has grown tremendously in the past 4 months. He is full of smiles and laughs. He is a morning boy and will babble the whole morning. He switched day cares at the beginning of December. We are so much happier with the new center. The teachers call Ethan their "little stud muffin". Ethan had an ear infection in November. After a round of antibiotics he was much better. Some how that time made Ethan stopping sleeping through the night. After his appointment we started sleep training, per Doctors recommendations. He is adjusting to this new routine. I struggle with not getting as much snuggle time but it is nice not sleeping on the chair all night. We have started cereal (pics will come soon). He is learning what to do. He doesn't like that it is not continual and gets mad if he doesn't get a bite quickly. He also wants to hold the spoon. Little man has to be in control, just like his mom. Ethan is tripoding (sitting but using his arms for support). He is getting very strong. He loves anything with music and lights. These items just fascinate him. I am so excited for him to go see Santa and have his first Christmas.

Happy Halloween!

Ethan enjoyed his first Halloween. He was a monkey. Since he is to little to trick or treat we made some goodies for the family and he took them over all dressed up. He received a Halloween basket from us filled with books and rattles and from his Nanna and Papa with toys and books. He loved a vtech guitar that his Nanna and Papa bought him. He even hit the buttons a few times. Most of his time was spent taking pictures. He was very good and even helped pass out candy to a few kids in the neighborhood. Ethan wishes everyone a Happy Halloween!

12 Week Old

Ethan is 12 weeks old. It is so amazing to watch him grow. He is full of smiles and loves to laugh. Ethan is truely a morning baby. He wakes up in the best of moods. He just wants someone to play with. He is sleeping from 10pm to 5 am most nights which is really nice. Every once in a while he wakes up at 3am for a bottle. Ethan has started to babble a lot. He just talks a way. He plays with his rattle and loves to watch anything with lights. He just started to play in his excersaucer. He is not real sure of it yet but likes to look at all the toys. Ethan weighed 17.1 lbs at his check up this week (The scales there seem to weigh high because he was only 14. 6 lbs at home). We do know he has gained a total of 8.10 lbs and 4 1/4 in since birth. Ethan will begin daycare this coming week. I am so sad by this but I am sure he will do great and will enjoy making all kinds of new friends.

Tummy Time

Ethan enjoys his daily tummy time. He is so strong now and can hold his head up for very long periods of time. He still lets it bobble when he gets tired though. Charlie likes to join him as well. Ethan prefers for someone to sit with him during this time. Ethan has actually rolled over from his tummy to his back 3 times now. I am sure it was accidental but we are still very proud. We keep trying to watch for it but he only does it when he is getting upset and wants to stop. Oh how quick Little E is growing up.

9 weeks old

We tried out the bumbo this week. We are still a little wobbly on it but doing pretty good. Ethan is getting stronger every day. This week our sleep has been improving. We made it one day from 10pm to 6am. The other mornings we are making it to some where between 4 to 5am which is still very good. Mommy is very excited about the extra couple of hours. Every few nights we go back to the old routine but we are trying. Ethan seems to be adjusting to his soy formula and his tummy seems to be doing much better. We go next week to see the Dr for a check up and more immunizations. Mommy is sad about returning to work. I go back part time next week then full time the following week. Ethan is lucky to be staying with his grandparents the next 2 weeks instead of going to day care (Thank you!) Ethan will sure love being spoiled those 2 weeks I am sure.

8 weeks old

Ethan turned 8 weeks old on 8/27. How the time is flying by. He is smiling all the time. I still am working on capturing a good smiling picture. He knows when the camera is out. He went for his check up on 10/1. He was 12.5 lbs and 22.5 in. No growth in 2 weeks which was a little surprising. We did have to switch formula due to allergies but we are sure that the soy formula will be what we need. He is really getting a personality. He is so silly in the mornings and wants to be played with. It is so hard to believe that he was just born 2 months ago. He is such a huge part of our lives we can't even imagine what life was like with out him anymore.

Wedding/ 6 Weeks Old

Ethan attended his 1st wedding on 8/12/09. My cousin Kayla was married. He did okay. Michael stood in the lobby with him because it was feeding time and we did not want him to make any noises and disrupt the wedding. We stayed at the reception as long as we could but it was bed time so we had to sneak out early. Ethan turned 6 weeks old the next day. He is getting so big. We ended up taking him to see the PA this week due to a rash on his face. As I expected he has eczema. We were given a Rx for a cream and it is clearing up. He weighed 12.5 lb and was 22.5 in long. We do believe the Dr scale is off a little but we know that he has grown 4 lbs since his first week at the Dr. Ethan does have nights were he is sleeping 4 to 5 hours. Oh how I love those nights. Other nights we are up and down all night. He is so alert during the day and smiles all the time. I am still trying to capture that smile on camera but he knows when I get it out. Smart boy! He loves to be sang to and wants to see what is going on. He is getting very strong and will hold his head up for short periods of time and now is using his upper body to hold himself up. We did get him enrolled in daycare so he will be starting there once I return to work here in a few more weeks. It is amazing how fast Ethan is growing and changing. We thank God every day for this little miracle we were given.

Zoo time fun

Nana and Papa took us to the Zoo for Labor day. Ethan seem to enjoy his self. We saw lots of animals and had lots of fun. It was a little hot but Ethan did very well. He did want to be held at times but of course that was not a problem. Ethan can't wait to go back when he is a little old to see the animals again.

Boomer Sooner!

Ethan went to his first OU watch party for the OU vs BYU game. He did very well until the end when it was getting to be bed time. (Mommy believes Ethan was just upset about Bradford and the game but who really knows) Ethan is already learning to support his team by wearing his crimson and cream. Boomer Sooner!

Museum with the cousins

On Saturday Sept 5th Ethan went to the Natural History Museum with his cousins and PaPaw. He slept the entire time. His cousins enjoyed them selves and we all had a fun time as a family.

4 weeks old

I can't believe Ethan is 4 weeks old today. He has grown tremendously in these past few weeks. He is up to 10 lbs. His neck is very strong and he can hold it up for some time now. He is very curious and loves to look around. We are still working on getting on a schedule but things are started to come together. We still have our bad nights at times. He really enjoys his swing and loves to listen to classical music. He is eating about 4 oz every 3 hours. He takes 1 morning nap and typically 2 afternoon naps (this is all by his choice, mommy would have his naps more consistent). I belive that he has learned his mom and dad's voice because when others hold him he will turn when the 2 of us talk. He continues to grown each day and is such a joy to have around. I can not believe how fast he is growing.

Week 1

Ethan is over a week old now. He is doing so well. We are still struggling with our night times but he has his good nights as well. He continues to grow everyday. He eats about every 3 hours and takes 2 1/2 to 3 oz of formula/breastmilk mix. He is starting to stay a wake for short periods of time now. He makes funny faces all the time. He is so precious and we are so bless to have Ethan. We are also so thankful for all the love and help we are receiving from family.

Walk to the park

Mommy and Daddy took Ethan for a walk to the park. Ethan slept the entire time. He enjoys being out in the sun. Ethan is suppose to have some daily sun time to help with the jaundice. As a family we walk up to the park and back. He really likes to go over bumps.

First Bath

Ethan had his first sponge bath. He was not happy about this at all. He would cry and scream. After a little time he started to adjust. Ethan does not like to have his clothes off so I think this is why he was so unhappy. After bath time mommy massages him with baby lotion and puts on his pjs. I think once we move to real baths he will be a little happier.

First Doctors Visit

Ethan had his first doctors appointment on Thursday 8/6. He did very well. He weighed 8.5. Everything checked out very well. Unfortunately he had to get another injection because the one he got at the hospital messed up and only got half a dose. Ethan cried for just a minute and then calmed down. We don't have to go back for 2 months.
